2023 Fashion Trends

Keeping abreast of current fashion trends is an invaluable way to stay fashionable. When TZR reached out to stylists for insight, many told us Barbie dressing (there’s even an upcoming movie!) and transparent details from Y2K fashion were set for a comeback.

Maxi Skirts

If you want to improve your style this summer, the maxi skirt should be at the forefront. This bold fashion trend has been seen everywhere, from runways and Instagram feeds to social media posts. It marks an abrupt shift from last year’s ultra-mini mini skirts, which have now fallen off the fashion radar. Instead, knee-skimming styles with oversized silhouettes are taking center stage this time; not just women can sport this trend, as men can also find versions available with intricate patterns or simple stripes for versatile wearability when dressing up or down.

The maxi skirt will add an eye-catching statement to any ensemble, no matter your style or sense of drama. From flowy styles that seem pulled directly out of sci-fi movie books to pleated and embroidered versions with artful detail such as pleating or embroidery designs adding artful femininity, as well as mesmerizing holographic styles which playfully shift color while reflecting light at you, you can expect this timeless accessory to make quite the impression statement in any wardrobe.

Silk kaftans make an elegant addition to any summer wardrobe, perfect for special events. Light as air yet sophisticated enough for daily wear, they offer an easy chic alternative to summer dresses. Wear yours with flat sandals for effortless everyday style, or dress it up for special events with strappy heels for special occasions.

2023’s top trends promise to leave an indelible mark, from peplum revival and modern twist on lace designs to nodding back to the ’90s with peeking tanga briefs, to bold color blocking (such as pink with green and orange hues). Cut-out trends may be on their way out, but aggressive color blocking may remain strong this year – don’t be intimidated to experiment!

Designers have further taken this season’s trend with boldly colored pieces that scream 2023. Look out for periwinkle hues – which made waves as 2022’s Color of the Year – along with related shades such as muted mauve and funky Fuschia. You’ll quickly add them to your summer rotation!

Barbarella

As seasons change, wardrobes require updating. Suppose you need help updating your summer-weather collection or wondering how to dress for fall. In that case, the spring/summer 2023 collections offer choices that allow for either strategy – from continued rosette accessories to delicate dip-dye trends that provide endless wardrobe possibilities; the spring/summer 2023 trends will enable you to “choose your adventure.”

These trends can quickly transform your wardrobe, so they don’t take much time or effort. From classic maxi skirts to summery shirt dresses, these pieces can quickly and effortlessly integrate into the everyday rotation and bring newness and freshness to any look.

These bold trends will add flair at any party or if you want to add drama to your everyday look. Last year was all about fuchsia; this season has more subdued and versatile shades like lilac mauve or funky fuschia; pink will surely be making its presence known from casual separates to formal occasionwear!

Silk kaftans are lightweight yet chic summer trends everyone is buzzing about, perfect for layering over any outfit and taking any ensemble to the next level. Choose a floral-print silk kaftan for a sophisticated look, or go bolder with one in zebra print for something playful!

Those drawn to this style, likely possessing ambition and drive for success, are attracted to it because they see its promise and can envision how best to realize them; however, some assistance might be required with execution details. By surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals, your mark on the world can quickly be made.

Barbarella has immensely affected fashion trends this season and can be an inspirational name for your daughter. Set in the far future, this sci-fi movie centers on an independent female secret agent who crashes onto a planet with strange customs; Barbarella gives your daughter the confidence to pursue her fullest potential!

Looser-Fit Jeans

Fashion trends become apparent as designers unveil their collections for the coming season. While minimalism remains popular, this year is all about bold shapes and eye-catching textures – we’re seeing oversized outerwear featuring playful prints or florals and fringe getting an extravagant makeover.

Baggy jeans have long been associated with skaters and teenagers; now, they’re returning! Louche denim has made its rounds across streets and social feeds this year and beyond; brands like Celine, Chanel, and Balenciaga are championing relaxed styles for autumn/winter 2021-2022 collections as well as spring/summer 2022; Parisian label Molly Goddard and London-based Rejina Pyo have also introduced fresh takes on relaxed denim; wide-leg jeans especially have made an impression comeback!

Product intelligence firm Trendalytics reports a dramatic 107 percent spike in wide-leg jeans over the past year alone. Although baggy jeans might seem challenging to incorporate into everyday wardrobes, with simple tricks, you can elevate this style effortlessly – such as adding combat boots for utilitarian chic or strappy heels for glamourous touches.

The oversized shirt dress is a wardrobe must this year. This versatile silhouette brings instantaneous drama and texture into any ensemble, from its casual gingham pattern to bold floral prints. Pair yours with either strappy heels or sneakers, adding accessories for that added personal touch.

Fringe has long been a hallmark of boho festival-goers and flappers alike, but its appearance on the runways has received an elegant upgrade this season. From subtle details along hemlines and cuffs up to all-over total fringed drama, fringe is one of the most captivating textures we see this season on fashion’s catwalks.

Though some might find the trend too dramatic to appreciate, sculptural design trends have found their way into occasionwear and event-ready pieces, with designers paying particular attention to body and hip anatomy details when creating these pieces. Look out for puff balls with many ruffles transformed into mini skirts and dresses!

Embroidery

Now that spring has officially arrived, it’s time to consider replacing winter layers with lighter options. Thanks to 2023 fashion trends that are making headlines this season, updating your closet can be accessible without overdoing it. From rosette accessories and continuing the Y2K influence to delicate dip dyeing techniques and too-sheer slip dresses, this season’s runway collections offer you plenty of room for experimentation when selecting new fashion pieces for yourself!

Harmony Pilobello of Builtgracefully Harmony says this season’s version feels fresh thanks to its puffy sleeves and playful prints; additional details such as belted waist and tie belts make this style more adaptable.

Embroidery has made waves in fashion recently, with designers showing off their creative flare through intricate and detailed adornments ranging from floral motifs to psychedelic paisley patterns and geometric designs. This trend provides a welcome change from logomania, which has long dominated fashion trends.

Embroidery also makes an appearance on a more practical level in spring 2023 collections, with cargo pants and workwear-inspired silhouettes featuring it prominently. But these aren’t your generic low-rise pants from 2000; this year’s practical styles have tailored shapes featuring interesting pocket placement and elevated fabrics beyond primary hues like khaki or olive.

Pantone’s 2022 color of the year — Very Peri — will remain popular on runways and high streets, as evidenced by frocks with cowled necklines and strategically placed cutouts at Tory Burch and Victoria Beckham fashion shows. Other shades of purple, like muted mauve and lively fuschia, could also become staples in your wardrobe this year.

If the Y2K aesthetic appeals to you, personal stylist Susan Padron predicts transparent details will remain popular for bags, shoes, and clothes – while holographic accents add mesmerizing shine that conjures images from sci-fi films.
