DJI Osmo Mobile 4 Review

The new DJI Osmo Mobile 4 is a three-axis foldable smartphone stabilizer with more features than ever. It’s an updated version of last year’s Osmo Mobile 3 and brings better motor support, a quick-release magnetic mounting system, and some new cool features.

It includes CloneMe Pano, which combines several images to create an illusion where your subject appears in different positions throughout the image. It also offers Dynamic Zoom, similar to digital dolly zoom but works automatically through the DJI Mimo app.

Features

The DJI Osmo Mobile 4 is a smartphone stabilizer that empowers creatives to capture high-quality content. It has a functional quick-snap magnetic phone attachment system, intuitive operation, upgraded motors, new creative capture modes, and a portable folding design.

The gimbal’s 3-axis stabilization technology provides super-smooth gimbal video. It’s also compatible with a broader range of phones than previous models, including the iPhone XR (opens in new tab), Apple iPhone XS, and more.

DJI has also boosted its ActiveTrack feature, which helps you track moving objects without losing your camera’s focus. It still isn’t perfect, but it’s a great perk.

Design

The DJI Osmo Mobile 4 resembles its predecessor, the DJI Osmo Mobile 3. They’re both a light grey with a plastic body, but the joystick, trigger, and grip all have rubberised surfaces.

The most significant change here is the new magnetic mounting system. The Osmo Mobile 4 comes with a magnetic clamp and magnetic ring holder, which latch onto your phone effortlessly for quick and easy setup.

It also makes removing your smartphone from the gimbal easier when you need to answer a call. This is one of the most annoying things about using a smartphone gimbal, as you can’t access your phone to answer calls while holding it.

The OM 4 has innovative features, including story mode, CloneMe pano, and Gesture Control. These modes are all designed to help you take great photos and videos quickly and easily. It is also compatible with a wide range of smartphones.

Battery life

DJI has improved the battery life on their latest handheld gimbal, the DJI Osmo Mobile 4, but it’s still short of some competitors. The new OM 4 offers 15 hours of power and has a quick-launch feature on the control panel that automatically starts stabilizing once you attach it to your phone with the included magnetic clamp.

The magnetic clamp on the OM 4 is nice, but it won’t work on some phones with thick cases. Thankfully, DJI has a second solution for phones with broader points: stick a ring-style holder (like a PopSocket) on the back and snap it into the magnets.

The new OM4 also has features that aren’t in the competition, like a status screen above the controls showing your recording tally and shooting mode. It also has a new ShotGuides function that analyzes your filming scene and recommends editing templates.

Price

DJI Osmo Mobile 4 is a premium smartphone stabilizer that helps you capture the moments that matter. It features a quick-snap magnetic phone attachment system, intuitive operation, upgraded motors, and new creative capture modes.

DJI is known for its innovative products, and the OM4 doesn’t disappoint. The smartphone gimbal remains lightweight and foldable, but it has some improvements over the Osmo Mobile 3.

The Osmo Mobile 3 and OM4 have similar features, including USB-C ports on the right for charging, a USB-A port to charge a device or an accessory, function, and record buttons, as well as a joystick and zoom slider.

The standout feature of the Osmo Mobile 4 is its quick-snap magnetic mount, which allows you to attach and detach your smartphone from the gimbal without needing to clamp it down or rebalance it between shoots. We’re looking forward to seeing more of this great innovation from DJI.
